Hi, and welcome to my new album. I guess the genre would be alternative rock of some description. The idea for the album started with the cover art. It somehow got me thinking about the Roman Empire and the strong Roman presence in northeast England (where I grew up, centuries later).

Imagine it's the year 180 CE or thereabouts. A centurion named Marcus has been stationed in the northeast of what is now England. Marcus hates it here. He finds the people barbaric and he doesn't understand their ways. Furthermore, north beyond the wall, there is a constant threat of attack. He longs to return home or failing that, to die, so that he can move on into the underworld or afterlife. His commander, Aurelius, for reasons unknown to us, is under instructions to keep him here so alas he must accept his fate.

Let's now join our protagonist as he sings and plays music about his life in northeast England (kind of).
